Jung-gu District in Incheon has secured 110 million won in financial incentives after receiving the Excellence Award in the "2026 National Policy District Evaluation" organized by the Incheon Metropolitan Government. The result is seen as an achievement directly tied to residents' lives, as it goes beyond a mere commendation to add usable funds to the district's budget.

The evaluation was conducted based on the results of the "2026 (2025 performance) Local Government Joint Evaluation" released by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in June. Using this data, the Incheon Metropolitan Government assigned comprehensive grades by jointly assessing each district and county's national evaluation performance and its efforts in carrying out projects in response to the joint evaluation.
Notable is the fact that the grade has risen year after year. Jung-gu received the Special Award in 2022 and 2023 and the Encouragement Award in 2024 and 2025, before earning the Excellence Award this year, continuing its record of winning awards for five consecutive years. The fact that the evaluation grade has been raised step by step shows that this is not a one-time achievement but the result of steadily accumulated capacity to carry out national policy.
Behind this result is the systematic advance preparation set in motion ahead of the evaluation. Jung-gu operated a "Qualitative Indicator Research Lab," an expert consulting body handling qualitative indicators, and managed quantitative indicators through meetings of officials in charge of each indicator in a "Quantitative Indicator Challenge" format. It also added performance briefings to review the progress of each indicator one by one, reducing any gaps.
The financial incentives secured are funds the district can use at its own discretion, leaving considerable room for them to be invested in projects residents can feel and in improvements to administrative services. In that evaluation results translate directly into budgetary capacity, this Excellence Award amounts to more than an internal administrative achievement.
A district official said, "The Excellence Award and our five consecutive years of winning awards are the result of all employees working with one mind to actively carry out administration to improve residents' quality of life," adding, "We will do our best to continue achieving good results in the National Policy District Evaluation in Yeongjong-gu as well."
Yeongjong-gu, mentioned by the official, is a new autonomous district set to be launched on July 1 through the reorganization of Incheon Jung-gu's administrative system, and the remark is interpreted as a determination to carry the momentum of this evaluation result into the operation of the new administrative district.
