Works drawn and crafted by out-of-school youths themselves have gone on display. Incheon's Michuhol-gu District (Mayor Kim Jung-sik) announced that on the 2nd it opened an exhibition of works prepared together by out-of-school youths and students from alternative schools at the Incheon Youth Culture Center 'Darak.'

The exhibition was organized as part of the Community Coexistence Project run by the Center for Support of Out-of-School Youth. Its aim is to share with local residents the process through which out-of-school youths have shared their talents, learned from one another and grown. In particular, it was intended to move away from viewing out-of-school youths merely as recipients of support, to make known that they are members who grow together with the local community, and to broaden positive perceptions of them.

In the project, Jang, a youth active at the center, took part as a volunteer instructor donating his talent. Jang led art classes over a total of 13 sessions, ranging from basic drawing to folk painting, for alternative-school youths affiliated with the center.

Sixteen young people took part in the exhibition, and a total of 23 works were displayed, including Jang's folk paintings and works by the youths who joined his classes. The participating youths presented works they had created themselves before the public, conveying both the joy of creation and the meaning of sharing their talents. The exhibition runs through the 7th at the Incheon Youth Culture Center 'Darak.'

Jang, who took part as an instructor, shared his impressions, saying, "It was meaningful to be able to learn and grow together with other friends through the art that I love," and adding, "Going forward, I want to continue activities in which I can use my talents to help someone."
