The Michuhol-gu Family Center (Director Choi Yeo-jin) joined hands with the Incheon Detention Center on the 4th to hold a 'Family Love Camp' for inmates and their families. The event was arranged to reconnect family members whose relationships can grow distant as periods of incarceration drag on.

A total of 20 people, including inmates and family members, took part in the camp. It focused on preventing the estrangement between family members caused by incarceration and helping to restore relationships that had grown distant.
The Family Love Camp has been run once each in the first and second halves of the year. This year, however, an additional session was arranged with the aim of expanding opportunities for families to spend time together during the summer vacation and holiday season.
Family members, meeting face to face after a long time, took part together in recreation and gardening activities. Using the activities as a medium, they conversed naturally and had time to reaffirm how precious they are to one another.
The spouse of one inmate who took part in the camp said, “After being apart for such a long time, there haven't been many chances for the whole family to laugh together, but through this opportunity I was able to feel the love and preciousness of family once again.”
Director Choi Yeo-jin said, “I hope this camp has served as an occasion for families that may have grown distant due to the absence of a family member to understand one another and gain a sense of emotional stability,” adding, “We will continue to provide support to help restore family relationships and strengthen healthy family functions.”
Meanwhile, the Michuhol-gu Family Center is an institution entrusted by Michuhol-gu District to and operated by the Industry-University Cooperation Foundation of Inha University. As a specialized family service institution providing tailored education by life stage, family counseling, and cultural and leisure programs for all families, this camp was carried out as one of its support activities.
