Rice Received in Place of Inauguration Wreaths Adds Extra Meaning to the Donation
The rice delivered that day consisted of white rice that Chairwoman Oh Hyeon-seo (오현서) had received in place of congratulatory wreaths at her recent inauguration ceremony, adding extra meaning to the donation.
Members of the Saemaul Women's Association carried the carefully prepared nutritious samgyetang and the donated rice directly to senior citizens' centers, delivering the healthy food to elderly residents while checking on their wellbeing and wishing them good health.
"We Hope Our Neighbors Get Through the Heat in Good Health"
Oh Hyeon-seo (오현서), chairwoman of the Namchon-Dorim-dong (남촌도림동) Saemaul Women's Association, said, "It is truly meaningful to be able to share with our neighbors the rice that carries the warm hearts of the many people who congratulated us on our new beginning, along with the samgyetang our members prepared with care. Although it is a small gesture, I hope it helps our neighbors get through the Chobok heat in good health, and we will continue to carry out sharing activities that look after the underprivileged corners of our community."
Kim Jeong-mi (김정미), head of Namchon-Dorim-dong (남촌도림동), responded, "I sincerely thank the members of the Saemaul Women's Association, who always think of their neighbors first and practice warm sharing even in this hot weather. We support the vigorous new start of the Saemaul Women's Association, and we will spare no administrative support and cooperation so that they can continue to actively carry out various activities for local residents."
