[코리안투데이] Play ‘A Certain Night Was Wrong’ Opens July 17 at Miari-gogae Art Theater |
Written by Yoon Ju-ho and directed by Jang Jin-woong, the piece features nine actors dressed in black seated atop marble cubes, with the words “a certain,” “night,” and “was wrong” scattered across the poster’s graphic design, visually hinting at the question the work poses.
The creative team is notable in its own right: dramaturgy by Oh Pan-jin, assistant direction by Lee Jun-su and Choi Hyeok-ju, and acting coaching by Kwak Ji-suk to refine the cast’s performances. Stage design is by Oh Ui-jae, lighting by Kim Min-ji, cinematography and graphics by Choi Ki-hong, and sound by Oh Je-woo. The production is by the creative collective Yangsanbak.
The cast comprises nine actors — Seo Hye-ju, Jang Myeong-hun, Kwon Hye-bin, Jo Byeong-guk, Jeong Seon-gyeong, Jeong Su-yeon, Moon Seon-ah, Lee Eum, and Shin Da-young — an ensemble structure in which multiple performers share the stage simultaneously as their characters’ storylines intertwine.
The production was selected for the 2026 Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s Creative Activity Support Program, receiving backing through the K-Art Youth Creators Support Project jointly run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Arts Council Korea, and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, with additional support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Weekday performances are at 8 p.m. (no performances on Mondays), while weekend and holiday shows run twice daily at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Miari-gogae Art Theater, located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, represents a community-based theater scene distinct from the Daehangno district.
