Incheon's Yeongjong-gu District (District Head Son Hwa-jeong) announced on the 11th that it has completed an inauguration tour in which District Head Son Hwa-jeong personally visited 70 senior centers across the district from July 30 to Aug. 7 to communicate directly with elderly residents.

The visits were planned both to strengthen the organizational foundation of Yeongjong-gu, which was newly established on July 1, and to put into practice from the early days of her term the value of "communication," which she has set as the core value of her district administration.
The visit schedule began on July 30 with eight senior centers in Yeongjong 2-dong and expanded sequentially. The district head visited 18 centers in Yeongjong-dong, eight in Unseo 2-dong, 13 in Unseo 1-dong, and 11 in Yeongjong 1-dong, before completing the tour of all 70 senior centers in the district with 12 centers in Yongyu-dong on Aug. 7.
At each senior center, Son met directly with elderly members to deliver inaugural greetings introducing the newly launched Yeongjong-gu, while candidly exchanging views on inconveniences in operating and using the centers as well as other local issues.

Elderly residents reportedly welcomed the district head's visits warmly and expressed hopes that she would work to expand welfare for senior citizens and develop the local community.
Among the suggestions received during the tour, the district plans to prioritize immediate action on matters that can be addressed right away, while policy proposals requiring mid- to long-term review — such as those involving budget or institutional adjustments — will be evaluated for feasibility and effectiveness before being reflected in future elderly welfare policy.
"Yeongjong-gu will continue to focus on field-oriented communication administration going forward," said District Head Son Hwa-jeong. "Having heard the vivid voices of our elderly residents, who are central to the development of our community, through this tour, we will do our utmost to further enhance the effectiveness of elderly welfare policy and create a Yeongjong where senior citizens can live well and happily."
