Yeongjong-gu announced on the 20th that it will carry out the '2026 Women's Peace-of-Mind Dream Project' to create a "safe environment where women feel secure."
The project aims to build an environment in which women can live or run their businesses with peace of mind by providing crime-prevention safety equipment to single-woman households and one-person shops operated by women. This year, support will go to a total of 30 sites — 10 single-woman households and 20 one-person shops run by female proprietors, all residing or operating within Yeongjong-gu.
Single-woman households can choose to receive either a 'peace-of-mind home set' or a 'Caps Home (door guard)' unit, depending on their housing environment. The peace-of-mind home set includes a home CCTV camera, a smart doorbell, a door-opening sensor, a double-lock safety latch and a window lock, allowing residents to check the security status inside and outside their home in real time via a smartphone app. The Caps Home (door guard) unit allows real-time viewing of the area in front of the entrance, supports two-way calling and AI facial recognition, stores footage for 30 days, and provides a 24-hour dispatch service in emergencies.
For one-person shops run by women, the district will support the installation of a 'peace-of-mind emergency bell' that connects directly to the 112 police situation room when pressed, allowing police to respond immediately and enabling two-way calling.
To be eligible, single-woman households must be sole-resident tenants living under a jeonse or monthly rental contract with a jeonse-equivalent value of 300 million won or less, while one-person shops must be businesses run by a female proprietor with a jeonse-equivalent value of 3.5 billion won or less. [Note: see translator's correction below] The district plans to give first priority to households that have suffered crime or violence, and to select vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty households as top priority without applying the asset criteria, in order to strengthen the safety net.
Residents who wish to apply can visit the community service center (haengjeongbokjisenter) in their neighborhood of residence and submit an application along with documents such as a copy of their lease agreement.
District Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said, "Through this project, we will focus on preemptively blocking crime risks targeting single-woman households and shops," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to build a 'safe Yeongjong-gu' where residents can live with peace of mind." Further details are available in the notices section of the Yeongjong-gu website (www.yeongjong.go.kr) or at each neighborhood community service center.
