The Yulmok-dong Community Social Security Council (Civilian Chairperson Eom Yeong-suk) of Jemulpo-gu District in Incheon visited 10 vulnerable households in the neighborhood on the 18th, delivering food packages as part of the first welfare check under the "Yulmok Safe Neighbors: Ding-dong! How Are You Doing?" program.

The program is a public-private collaborative care initiative aimed at regularly checking on neighbors at risk of social isolation and lonely death, detecting crisis situations early and connecting them with necessary welfare services.

On the day, council members personally visited the target households to deliver "reliable food packages" made up of groceries. Rather than simply handing over goods, the visits focused on closely checking residents' living conditions and health while exchanging greetings.

The council plans to regularly check on residents at least once a month going forward, either by phone or in person. It will continue to deliver care packages tailored to the season and each household's needs, and if a crisis situation is discovered during a visit, the council will immediately share the information with the Yulmok-dong health and welfare team to connect residents with necessary services, including public benefits and private resources.

Civilian Chairperson Eom Yeong-suk said, "The program to check on vulnerable residents is rooted in concern and warmth for our neighbors," adding, "Through regular welfare checks, we will be a reliable presence so that no neighbor is left behind."

Park Nam-gong, head of Yulmok-dong, said, "I hope this program becomes the starting point for a tight-knit community care system in which residents and the administration work together to look after neighbors in need," adding, "We will do our utmost to detect households in crisis early and swiftly connect them with the support they need."

The Yulmok-dong Community Social Security Council plans to continue its efforts to close welfare gaps and prevent lonely deaths through ongoing welfare checks and tailored welfare service connections.
