Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) in Incheon successfully ran the '2026 Creative Logic Camp' from Aug. 22 to 23, a two-day program designed to build local elementary school students' scientific thinking skills. The camp, held at Jaeneung University's Center for Gifted Education, brought together 160 first- through fourth-grade elementary students from the district.

The camp was designed to connect the university's strong educational infrastructure with the local community. It also aimed to help children develop creative thinking without relying on private tutoring, while easing the burden of private education costs on parents.

Held under the theme 'Science Kidzania, Science and Technology City,' the camp was structured so students could learn scientific principles through hands-on activities. At the Biocenter, students took part in a 'DNA extraction' practical session, while the Pharmaceutical Development Center offered a 'capsule factory' experience teaching the principles of capsule formulation. A hands-on program themed around a 'forensic investigation team' was also held, drawing strong interest from students.

A program for parents ran alongside the camp. Under the name 'Science in Fairy Tales with My Child,' parents made their own bath bombs, taking time to relieve the stress of parenting.

Kim Chan-jin, mayor of Jemulpo-gu District, said, "I hope this Creative Logic Camp served as a valuable opportunity to draw out our children's potential." He added, "We will continue to actively run educational programs unique to Jemulpo-gu District to help close the educational gap in our community and build an education-friendly city where both children and parents are happy."

The camp, organized through cooperation between a local university and the district government, carries added significance in that it offered local elementary students quality hands-on science education without the need for private tutoring. Jemulpo-gu District plans to continue identifying and operating similar collaborative education programs going forward.
