About 160 members of the Rural Living Improvement Association from 11 districts and counties of Incheon took part in this convention. The event was arranged to strengthen fellowship and communication among members while enhancing their capabilities as women farmer leaders capable of responding to a rapidly changing agricultural environment.

The program included commendations for outstanding members who have contributed to the development of regional agriculture and the advancement of the rights of rural women, sessions for communication and solidarity among members, and study tours of Jeju’s advanced agricultural sites and exemplary cases of sixth-industry convergence. In particular, by directly observing sixth-industry sites that link processing, distribution and hands-on experience beyond mere agricultural production, members were able to encounter practical examples they can apply after returning to their own regions.

Kim Yong-ok, president of the Rural Living Improvement Association, said, ‘It has been a meaningful time in which members from Incheon’s 11 districts and counties came together in Jeju, surrounded by green nature, to communicate and build harmony.’ She added, ‘We will continue to carry out various activities for the community and for agricultural development, such as practicing carbon neutrality, promoting rice consumption, and sharing love with our neighbors.’

Lee Hee-jung, director of the Incheon Agricultural Technology Center, said, ‘I am grateful for the hard work of the Rural Living Improvement Association members, who have steadily worked for the development of agriculture and rural communities and for the local community.’ He added, ‘We will continue to provide support to strengthen the capabilities of rural women leaders and to advance their rights.’

The Rural Living Improvement Association is a farmers’ learning organization fostered by the Rural Development Administration in 1958, and it has carried out activities aimed at making rural life more scientific and rational, practicing carbon neutrality, improving dietary habits, and enhancing the status and rights of rural women. As an organization with a history spanning nearly 70 years, this convention went beyond a simple social gathering to become an occasion to affirm the trajectory through which women farmers have established themselves as key players in regional agriculture and to set the direction for future activities.
