Dongkuk Steel (Plant Manager Lee Chan-hee) donated 20 million won in living support funds and 80 gift sets on Sept. 16 for low-income seniors in Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin), Incheon, ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The donation is intended to support vulnerable seniors for whom the holiday season can be a burden rather than a celebration.

The donation is not a one-off contribution. The company has consistently continued its community giving by providing living support funds and gift sets for low-income seniors every holiday season. This Chuseok, it once again delivered the support funds to help marginalized seniors enjoy a somewhat more secure holiday.
"We prepared this in the hope that seniors can ease their worries even a little and feel warmth during what should be a bountiful Chuseok holiday," Plant Manager Lee Chan-hee said. "We will continue to listen to the voices of local residents and remain a reliable partner in realizing the values of mutual growth and sharing."
"I sincerely thank Dongkuk Steel for always putting the local community first and leading the way in giving," Jemulpo-gu Mayor Kim Chan-jin said. "We will do our best to build a happy Jemulpo-gu by ensuring that this warm goodwill is fully delivered to our seniors."
Jemulpo-gu plans to ensure that the donated funds and goods are delivered to seniors without omission. Such support, in which a locally rooted company regularly looks after vulnerable groups every holiday season, serves as an example of public-private cooperation that fills gaps beyond the reach of public welfare, and carries considerable significance in an old downtown area where many seniors spend the holidays alone.
