Team Composition and Operating Methods
The delinquency management team will be composed of fixed-term workers and dedicated personnel from the tax department. Targeting individuals with outstanding local tax and non-tax revenue arrears, the team will conduct both home visits and phone consultations, categorizing delinquencies in detail to carry out tailored management and collection activities.
Delinquents with the financial means to pay will be actively encouraged to settle their debts voluntarily. Through type-specific responses, the district aims to improve collection rates and promote a culture of conscientious tax compliance.
Installment Plans and Welfare Service Referrals for Subsistence-Level Delinquents
Subsistence-level delinquents experiencing temporary financial hardship will be guided on installment payment options. Where needed, the district plans to connect them with welfare services to help resolve their delinquency issues at the root.
District Chief Lee Jae-ho stated, 'Operating this delinquency management team goes beyond simple tax collection — it is tailored administration that carefully examines each delinquent's individual circumstances,' adding, 'We will continue to do our utmost to ensure fair tax administration and foster a sound taxpaying culture.'
Expanded Operations and Staffing Planned from Next Year Onward
Based on the results of this year's pilot program, the district plans to expand both the operating period and the dedicated staffing of the delinquency management team starting next year, sustaining the initiative on an ongoing basis.
Through these efforts, the district expects to strengthen tailored responses by delinquency type, improve collection rates, and contribute to spreading a culture of faithful tax compliance among residents.
