The Juan Video Media Center (Director Jang Gu-bo) in Michuhol-gu District (Mayor Kim Jung-sik), Incheon, has teamed up with Chungwoon University (President Jung Yoon) to run an 'employment-linked national work-study program' aimed at building the practical skills of local young people and strengthening their job competitiveness. It is a case of a university and a local media institution collaborating to jointly support youth in their career paths and employment.

Overseen by the Korea Student Aid Foundation, the program helps university students build the competencies needed for employment by gaining real work experience at institutions related to their majors. Its significance lies in extending learning that had been confined to credits and theory into the field.

The program runs from June 16 to Aug. 31, the 2026 summer break. During this period, nine Chungwoon University students have been assigned to the center and are taking part in work activities.

The participating students are gaining a practical feel for the work by taking on a wide range of tasks, including supporting digital media education for local residents, planning and producing video and media content, and assisting with the operation of center programs. A distinctive feature is that they experience the entire media production process firsthand rather than being limited to simple assistance.

Through this program, the center expects the students to gain practical experience in the media field and to develop it into tangible skills they can use in exploring their future careers and preparing for employment.

A center official said, "We will provide systematic mentoring and education so that students can grow into media professionals based on this experience," adding, "We will continue to work with universities to invigorate local media culture and cultivate young talent."

Amid the continuing difficulties young people face in finding jobs, the program is drawing attention for pursuing two effects at once — providing local youth with major-linked practical opportunities while also strengthening local media capabilities.
