The Songhyeon 1·2-dong Residents' Council (Chairperson Ji Jeong-nam) in Jemulpo-gu, Incheon, has launched a program in which the local community looks after the health of elderly residents and neighbors together. The council announced that on the 3rd it began its "Creating a Dementia-Safe Village (Dementia-Prevention Class)" program for elderly residents and neighbors in the district.

The program carries significant meaning as an initiative of the education subcommittee that was selected through a residents' vote at the 2025 residents' general assembly. Because residents themselves proposed the need and set the priorities, it is being carried out as a community-focused program.
The program will be conducted as dementia-prevention classes over a total of 10 sessions. It will offer activities such as exercise classes and calligraphy classes, and will conclude with members of the council's education subcommittee and residents making gochujang together. The format naturally links health management with exchange among neighbors.
Kim Kyung-soon, head of the education subcommittee, which oversaw the program, said, "I hope this program will serve as an opportunity to help the health of residents in the district, including dementia prevention," adding, "We will continue to prepare programs that benefit our neighbors and reach out to residents."
Park Chan-young, head of Songhyeon 1·2-dong, said, "We expect this will serve as an opportunity to strengthen bonds and a sense of community among neighbors, not only through the dementia-prevention class program but also through events such as gochujang-making."
