The car racing tournament was held amid a heated atmosphere, starting with the group qualifiers on June 27 and continuing to the finals on July 4, where the final survivors vied for the top spot. A total of 32 talented local youth signed up for the initial qualifying league, driving up the competition. After a series of dramatic, unscripted matches, an elite group of 16 racers successfully advanced to the final round.
The tournament venue offered an immersive experience that kept peer students and guardians in the audience on the edge of their seats, featuring the players' detailed controller manipulation and dramatic, last-minute comebacks. In addition to the main competition, an exhibition match featuring parent-child duos was held, creating a stage of intergenerational unity filled with laughter.
The ultimate winner of the two-day tournament was Baek Se-jun, a student from Dongsan Middle School who demonstrated flawless drift control. Baek consistently maintained a stable playstyle on the day of the finals, earning the distinction of becoming the inaugural champion of the first tournament.
"Competing with many friends on a wide and wonderful stage in a game I usually played alone at home on a console made me feel like a hero in a real racing tournament," said Baek Se-jun of Dongsan Middle School, who won the championship title. "I hope the center continues to open similar interactive gaming leagues in the future, and I will definitely participate in the next one."
Han Gi-seong, director of the Jemulpo-gu Youth Training Center, said, "Today's gaming festival was a meaningful educational venue that allowed students familiar with digital culture to relieve academic stress and build friendly rivalries and peer relationships." He added, "Beyond this one-time event, we will make every effort to establish the training center as a future-oriented central hub by activating the exclusive Play Cube zone and hosting multi-dimensional digital art experience projects."
