The film begins screening at Cinespace Juan on July 16. The 56th Life Film event will be held at 2 p.m. on July 25 in Cinespace Juan's Theater 3, where film critic Jung Ji-hye will lead a roughly one-hour commentary and guest visit (GV) session with the audience following the screening.
The French New Wave was a film movement that broke away from conventional studio-centered production in favor of on-location shooting, free-form editing and realistic direction, and it left a major mark on world cinema in the 1960s. Godard is regarded as a leading figure of the movement.
"Contempt" delicately portrays art and capital, love and human desire, centering on the relationship between Paul, a screenwriter working on a film adaptation of the classical epic "The Odyssey," and his wife Camille, who shows him cold contempt.

The film starred Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli and Jack Palance, and has been hailed as one of the great masterpieces of film history for Godard's distinctive sensory direction and color aesthetics.
Released in 1963, the film has become a classic of world cinema and was recently rereleased in a 4K remastered version. It was also officially invited to the Cannes Classics section of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, once again affirming its timeless artistic merit.
Admission is 9,000 won, and booking details and the full screening schedule can be found on the Cinespace Juan website (www.cinespacejuan.com).
