Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) in Incheon officially opened the public Doosan We've Daycare Center on Aug. 28, a facility built inside an apartment complex constructed under the Songnim District 3 housing redevelopment project.

The district signed a free lease agreement with the apartment complex in September, after which it went through the process of selecting an operator and remodeling the facility, completing roughly six months of preparation before the opening.

About 100 people, including Mayor Kim Chan-jin, guests, parents and local residents, attended the opening ceremony to witness the launch of the new childcare facility. The event opened with a congratulatory performance by children from Geumchang Daycare Center, followed by opening remarks, a tape-cutting ceremony, a facility tour and a reception.

The establishment of a public daycare center inside an apartment complex in a redevelopment district is seen as a preemptive response to the childcare demand of newly occupied housing units and a step toward expanding the foundation for public childcare. Notably, the district secured the facility through a free lease without the burden of acquiring a separate site.

"I sincerely congratulate the opening of the public Doosan We've Daycare Center," said Jemulpo-gu District Mayor Kim Chan-jin. "I hope the daycare center will be a joyful space of learning for children and a dependable childcare space that parents can trust."
