Son Hwa-jeong, mayor of Yeongjong-gu District in Incheon, visited 'EDC Korea 2026', a large-scale concert event held on the 3rd at the Inspire Entertainment Resort in the district, and personally inspected safety preparedness for crowds and noise. According to materials released by Yeongjong-gu District on the 6th, the inspection was arranged in consideration of the nature of the event, in which a large number of spectators gather in a short period of time.

The purpose of the inspection was to closely check on-site safety management and the emergency response system. The district also aimed to respond actively to residents' inconveniences, such as noise that may occur during the performances, so that the event could be held safely and smoothly.

Together with officials concerned and event organizers, Mayor Son walked through the areas expected to draw large crowds, the main pedestrian routes and the entrances in turn. She focused in particular on whether safety management personnel were properly deployed and whether the on-site response system was operating appropriately, assuming a scenario in which crowds concentrate in one spot.

Noise was also among the items inspected. The mayor checked on-site noise management and the response system in order to reduce inconvenience to nearby residents caused by sound from large-scale concerts. Mayor Son asked that noise levels around the venue be continuously monitored and that a contact channel between event organizers and the district office be maintained so that any noise complaints can be addressed immediately. She also called for active measures to minimize inconvenience to residents and shops near the venue.

Yeongjong-gu District had also been working on safety management ahead of the event's opening. On the 1st, Deputy Mayor Park Yu-jin visited the venue with officials concerned and conducted an intensive inspection of the safety management status and the crowd response system. On the 4th, during the event, the head of the Construction, Safety and Transportation Bureau visited the site and closely checked safety management conditions. The mayor, the deputy mayor and a bureau-level official thus inspected the site in succession.

"Yeongjong is set to leap forward as a hub of the global culture and performance industry, and many large-scale cultural events are expected to be held here going forward," Mayor Son said. "The district will continue to make efforts in on-site safety management."

With more large-scale concerts expected to follow, the administration's advance inspection system for crowd management and noise response is likely to be key to protecting residents' safety and living environment.
