The Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission (Chairman Kim Jong-cheol) and the Korea Communications Agency (President Lee Sang-hoon) announced on the 23rd that they had selected 11 domestic broadcast contents, including ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung’, as titles for their overseas distribution support project, in connection with the 2026 Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), Asia’s largest media and entertainment content market, to be held from December 3 to 5.

The 11 selected titles span a wide range of genres from the planning stage through to production. They consist of four AI-based production-support works and seven AI-utilizing planned programs. The production-support works include ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung’, which employs AI de-aging technology that transforms and restores the faces of people in video or photographs. Among the planned programs is ‘Unforgettable Duet 2’, which applies Oasis AIX technology to recreate video scenes using photographic materials.
The overseas distribution support project for broadcast content linked to ATF centers on supporting domestic broadcasters and production companies in exporting and promoting their creative and competitive broadcast content abroad, including investment consultations. In effect, the government is opening a path for domestic content to be presented directly at Asia’s largest content market.

Since 2024, the Commission and the KCA have been the first among Asian nations to introduce AI-powered broadcast content to this market, drawing the attention of local investors. The two organizations plan to present the 11 selected titles to overseas investors to bolster the international distribution of Korean content.

Of the selected works, four will be placed in the business-matching promotion hall and seven in the showcase, where they will meet with local investment and distribution officials. Attention is now focused on whether AI production technology can establish itself as a new export strength for Korean broadcast content.
