Rural Development Administration Commissioner Lee Seung-don visited local social welfare facilities on September 17 to deliver donations and stopped by a traditional market to purchase holiday goods, joining in the practice of neighborly love.
That day, the commissioner visited Sinjungang Market in Jeonju, Jeonbuk State, and personally bought holiday goods such as grains, fruits and vegetables, and livestock products. During the purchase, he checked the supply-and-demand situation and price trends of holiday goods, and continued his outreach to citizens by meeting merchants and listening to voices from the field.

The Rural Development Administration delivered goods worth about 1.3 million won purchased with Onnuri gift certificates, along with 1 million won in donations voluntarily raised by employees, to officials of the Pyeongan House (Pyeongan-ui-jip), a social welfare facility in Jeonju, wishing them an abundant Chuseok. By delivering goods bought at a traditional market to a local welfare facility, the administration is seen as promoting both holiday sharing and the revitalization of the local commercial district.

The sharing activities did not stop with the commissioner alone. Deputy Commissioner Kim Sang-gyeong, along with four affiliated institutions—the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the National Institute of Crop Science, the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, and the National Institute of Animal Science—will carry out donation activities in turn from September 17 to 22. These institutions plan to deliver 10 million won in donations, including 1.37 million won worth of goods, to the Jeonbuk Community Chest of Korea and five social welfare facilities in Wanju-gun: the St. Joseph Hill Senior Home, Saehimwon, Seondeok Orphanage, Gui Senior Welfare Center, and Theresa Nursing Home.
Coming ahead of a holiday when the burden of rising prices grows heavier, this act of sharing is expected to bring warmth to the community by providing tangible help to welfare facilities and vulnerable groups.
