Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will hold the 2026 19th International Organization Career Academy at the G-Tower Grand Auditorium in Songdo on the 16th. Now in its 19th edition, this year’s event has newly revamped its program to keep pace with the changing landscape of international organization recruitment. Moving beyond the previous format, which mainly conveyed hiring information, the program is now built around field experience and real success stories of those who have joined such organizations, aiming to help young people apply their strengths on the global stage.
The event will unfold in three parts. In the first part, a current staff member of the Northeast Asia Office of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), based in Songdo, Incheon, will introduce the latest recruitment environment and the realities of the work involved. In the second part, employees now working at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the UN Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (UNAPCICT) — who landed their jobs after completing Incheon’s International Organization Job Experience Program — will share practical, hands-on tips for preparing to enter the field. In the third part, Cho Yong-min, CEO of Unbound Lab Dev, will draw on his experience at global companies such as Google Korea and IBM to present the core competencies and career strategies the international arena demands, followed immediately by a question-and-answer session.
The venue will also feature promotional booths run by major international organizations based in Incheon. Participants will be able to explore each organization’s activities and information firsthand and speak with representatives, gaining a broad understanding of the roles and duties of international organizations.
Incheon is a global city home to 15 international organizations, and on the strength of the international infrastructure it has built up, it has steadily expanded opportunities for young people to experience the international stage up close. This Academy carries significance in that it provides a channel through which young people — who often have relatively limited access to information — can shape their career paths by learning from the real experiences of those who came before them.
The Academy is open not only to young people interested in working at international organizations but to anyone. Applications can be submitted by the 15th through the pre-registration link (https://form.naver.com/response/7T7pPaPTG6Y) or via the QR code on the promotional poster, and on-site registration will also be available on the day of the event. For further details, contact the Incheon International Cooperation Division (☎440-3241∼3).
Kim Young-shin, Director General of the city’s International Cooperation Bureau, said, ‘For young people preparing to join international organizations, the vivid voices from the field and the success know-how of those who came before will be a far greater asset than one-way information.’ He added, ‘I hope this Academy becomes a solid stepping stone that lets young people feel the global stage close at hand and expand their boundless potential, and we will continue to spare no effort in supporting young people’s advancement by drawing on Incheon’s excellent international infrastructure.’
